Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the mediating role of perceived social support in the relationship between parents' initial maladaptive schema with gender identity and behavioral disorders in female adolescents. The present study is a descriptive-correlation and the statistical population of the study was all female high school students in Mashhad and their parents who were studying in the 98-99 academic year. The sample of this study includes 369 students and their parents who were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling. The research instruments included Zimet et al.'s (1988) Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Questionnaire, Young's Early maladaptive Schemas Questionnaire (2003), Bam Gender Identity Questionnaire (1974), and the Eisenbach Behavioral Disorders Questionnaire (Form 11-18). Research data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and path analysis. The results showed that perceived social support has a mediating role in the relationship between parents' early maladaptive schemas and gender identity and the relationship between early parental maladaptive schemas and behavioral disorders in female adolescents. Also, there is a significant negative relationship between parents 'initial maladaptive schema with female gender identity and neutral female adolescents and a positive and significant relationship between parents' initial maladaptive schema with female adolescent behavioral disorders.
