Abstract

Forgiveness is a topic that has received increasing attention recently in the Psychological literature, while little empirical research has been conducted on it. This research aims to explore the effects of forgiveness-based marital group therapy on matrimonial satisfaction. The research method included a mixed in-group/intra-group design. To reach such aim, we developed a marital group intervention to address forgiveness and its effect on marital satisfaction. We used marital satisfaction scale (Enrich) and forgiveness scale as measurement tools, selected 10 couples and randomly assigned them in two groups, 5 in forgiveness skill training group and 5 in control group. Forgiveness skill was taught in group therapy sessions for 20 hours. A repeated measure experiment indicated that test group in comparison with control group improved in forgiveness skill and marital satisfaction at a follow up test.
