The Impact of Emotional Irritation on Organizational Indifference with the Mediating Role of Cultural Intelligence in Female professors of Allameh Tabataba’i University

Abstract

University professors are the most important agents influencing the achievement of university goals. Organizational indifference of professors causes a failure to achieve these goals. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of emotional irritation on organizational indifference with the mediating role of cultural intelligence in female professors of Allameh Tabataba'i University. This is a descriptive study used survey data collected via emotional exhaustion (Choi et. al, 2014), organizational indifferences (Danaeifard et. al, 2010), and cultural intelligence (Earley & Ang , 2004) questionnaires. The research population consist of 140 female professors at Allameh Tabataba'i University. The reliability and validity of the instrument were measured by using the construct validity, Cronbach's Alpha, convergent validity and divergent validity. Data analysis was performed by SPSS software while using Sobel and VAF tests for measuring the impact of mediating role of cultural intelligence. The results showed that emotional irritation significantly affects organizational indifference and cultural intelligence. The moderating role of cultural intelligence has a significance effect in the relationship between dependent and independent variables. On the other hand, Sobel test analysis indicated that almost 76 percent of the changes in organizational indifference is explained by changes in emotional irritation via mediating role of cultural intelligence.
