Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of structural variables on the relationship between women's power and their lifestyle activities. Sample survey was 550 married women over 25 years old. The results indicate that structural and contextual variables are significantly influential on the power of women in family and modern leisure activities, music and food preferences and activities related to the body and health. Structural variables along with controlling the power of women still have a significant effect on choosing lifestyle. So it can be seen that although women's power in family can increase their agency but this effect is applied through structural mechanisms and socio-economic stratification of the society. Results show that the effect of power on agency is not absolute and other conditions must be met until women can enjoy full agency. The researcher's suggestion is to use other forms of capital (like new social capital) to reduce the impact of structural constrains and increase social agency.
