Investigation on Appropriate Content of Extension System for Rural Women in Khfizestan Province

Abstract

In spite of the importance of delivering extension services to improve socio-economic status of rural women, due to some reasons such as lack of compatibility of extension program contents, which is a significant factor in the system, with the specific needs and conditions of rural women, the appropriate extension services has not been offered to them. Therefore, different studies have emphasized on improving extension services quality through aligning extension contents with such women requirements. Accordingly, the main purpose of this research is to investigate the appropriate contents of extension system for rural women in Khuzestan province. This is a survey-type and applied research. The statistical population of the study consists of 140 rural women of Khuzestan province, selected by method of proportionate stratified random sampling. The data is gathered through semi-open questionnaire and analysed with SPSS software, descriptive statistics (mean, percentage, etc.), and inferential statistics  (Factor analysis).
The findings show that the rural women give priority to support and execution of extension services contents in connection with data presented, training, and advisory on home economic, institutional capacity, training, and advisory on hand-craft and agriculture.
