This article attempts to make a comparison between the professional situation of women and men in Iran. The statistical society consists of university lecturers in Tehran. A survey was conducted based on a questionnaire which was filled through a direct interview. The findings are explained in terms of theoretical framework of Liberal Feminism. The most important finding of the study is that there is a gap between what professional women like to do in their work, and what actually is available to them. The gap is rooted in the existing gender discrimination at work which offers most opportunities to men.
